House Washing Service
Why You Should Have Your House Washed
Just as you maintain the interior of your home, it is equally important to maintain the exterior. Exterior surfaces play a crucial role in protecting more vulnerable structures underneath, so it is important to keep surfaces clean and clear of debris that could otherwise obscure issues that need to be addressed. Additionally, exterior surfaces give your home character, and homeowners spend significant time and money making their homes beautiful additions to the neighborhood; however, all of that effort is wasted if your home is dirty and covered in organic growths such as green algae! A well-maintained home is a valuable home, and power washing can significantly improve curb appeal, while also encouraging neighbors to tidy up as well, improving the character and value of an entire neighborhood. Power washing is the most effective and reliable way to restore your home to a sparkling clean, enhancing the beauty of your home while protecting it from damage.
Why You Should Hire a Professional
Generally speaking, house washing is not technically challenging. While some homeowners choose to wash their house, themselves, this is often a wasted effort because of how affordable house-washing services really are! Without the right equipment and techniques, washing a house can quickly become a headache, causing a homeowner to expend significant effort to achieve sub-optimal results. Reaching high peaks or second/third floors can be accomplished in a number of ways, to varying degrees of success; however, having the right equipment can make the job profoundly easier. You may be able to rent a machine from Lowe’s or Home Depot, but can you rent an extension wand as well? Chances are you will need to buy one. How about a ladder? Is it even safe to be using a pressure washer from a ladder, especially if you do not regularly use a pressure washer, or regularly use ladders? While not technically challenging, well-intentioned homeowners can cause themselves tremendous headaches trying to save money on necessary maintenance, and still end up not saving money.
You already spend your days trying to hold life together, whether that be working long hours, taking care of children, or any other range of adult responsibilities; the last thing you want to deal with is washing the house instead of enjoying your free time with friends and family. Our Process
Surface Work takes a careful, meticulous approach to house washing, using various specialized tools, cleaners, and techniques to ensure that our services do not damage your property while providing the best possible cleaning services.
Preparation
A walk-around assessment is performed before anything is unpacked. This gives us time to identify potential problem areas and to develop a plan that will lead to optimal results. Sensitive plants are covered (to keep cleaners off), and pre-dilution is done so that the plants will soak up as much water as possible, limiting their ability to absorb cleaning solution run-off. Outdoor furniture, grills, and any moveable decorations are moved away from the work area.
Cleaning
This is the central part of the job and involves cleaning individual surfaces while keeping track of dwell time for cleaners on surfaces. House washing is completed in sections – one section is rinsed while the other waits for cleaning solutions to work, before moving on to rinse the next section. This method ensures that we can always keep an eye on any areas which are actively being cleaned, immediately addressing any unforeseen problems before they can become serious.
Rinsing
Plants around the work area are rinsed to remove any cleaning solution overspray. Furniture and decorations are moved back to their original locations, and if appropriate, these items are rinsed as well. A final rinse of surrounding ground surfaces ensures that the area will be safe for enjoyment by all, even those forever curious pets we all love!
Inspection
An inspection is done to ensure that all surfaces are cleaned and that nothing was accidentally missed. Ideally, we prefer that the homeowner accompany us for this inspection, though, we understand if you are too busy spending the time you’re saving, doing more enjoyable things! We take great pride in our work, and if any deficiency is later discovered, we will not hesitate to make it right.
Soft Washing vs Pressure Washing
Soft Washing is a term used for washing a house without using high pressure (which can damage more delicate surfaces such as vinyl). A pressure washer is a versatile machine, with pressure being controlled by selecting nozzles with an appropriately sized orifice. A pressure washing system can perform soft washing, but a soft wash system cannot perform pressure washing. For house washing services, it is proper for the pressure of a pressure washing system to be set very low when cleaning more delicate materials such a vinyl, or set moderately high for more durable materials such as brick (but not high enough to blow out mortar!). At Surface Work, we recognize that there exists no one-size-fits-all solution to washing houses, and always select equipment that is appropriate for the job being conducted.
